The authentic sounds of the Albanian music scene are aplenty in Ronela Hajati’s song Sekret.
A snatch of choral singing in the initial seconds of the track is not the expected opening considering the other elements the song has on offer later on. The choral sound soon gives way to a piercingly sharp Albanian instrumentation with a strong beat to match. It’s a comforting sound that packs authenticity.
Hajati’s vocal range is on full show throughout Sekret and it’s a blessing. Despite this the track does seem a little stilted in places as it has a lot crammed into just three minutes and the transitions between the song’s segments aren’t always smooth.
All things considered Sekret is a marvellous track with bona fide Albanian sounds which are complemented by a relevant and modern production.
