The surprise collaboration between Eurovision alumni wrs and Andromache which was announced one week ahead of its release is a display of eastern European pop perfection.
If You Were Alone is opened with the familiarity of wrs’ quivering vocals with an injection of pace coming just 20 seconds into the track.
Andromache provides a beautiful harmony early on too but her standalone vocals in the second verse add extra warmth to the already sizzling heat the track offers.
This song is undeniably cut from the same cloth as wrs’ Eurovision favourite Llámame. The instrumentation and structure are familiar but this new single narrowly misses the heights of the Romanian singer’s recent solo effort.
Saying the track isn’t as stratospheric as Llámame is not dismissive; If You Were Alone deserves to be on repeat throughout your summer.
