Andrea’s would-be Eurovision entry Close To the Sun is a double tale of what could have been.
Almost mystical and attention grabbing piano chords deliver a punchy intro to this new single with natural anticipation building throughout the first verse suggesting a big tempo change for the chorus.
The expected tempo change doesn’t arrive but a chorus cast from the same mould as that of Circles does instead. One one hand it is a disappointment not having a bigger and faster chorus but on the other hand it’s a more comfortable and relatively gentle reminder of what Andrea does best.
As this was written with Eurovision in mind, it clocks in at the three minute time limit which gives the final chorus a stilted feel. It leaves you wanting more and more.
