High end production is teamed with an all-encompassing narrative to create Raiven’s Eurovision contribution.
Veronika is written about Veronika of Desenice, the first Solvenian woman to be convicted of witchcraft hundreds of years ago. Raiven, in essence, becomes and encapsulates the titular character and embodies her spirit.
The introductory lyrics to the chorus are a hook with lasting power. “Najdi me, rani me, brani me” echoes eternally. The production is loud, dark and mysterious. It borders on musical theatre, but treads carefully to be in a class of its own.
Whether Veronika will translate its story through a live performance remains to be seen, but the groundwork has been done.
