Greece: Marina Satti – Zari Review

It’s the stuff of dreams for countries to send songs to Eurovision that match the look, feel and sound of their national music charts. Marina Satti has made it a reality for Greece with Zari

I won’t for one minute pretend I know the Greek music charts inside out. I don’t study its non-movers, re-entries and new entries, but Zari feels like belongs there.

Crucially, however, it only sounds like it belongs because of its genuinely authentic and pleasing sounds. Besides that, it’s littered with overbearing elements that make it a headache to listen to. Each hook steamrollers the last, before anything has the chance to stick.

Zari is a song made by a committee meeting whereby no suggestion was vetoed.
