At just 17 years old, Silia Kapsis could have easily sent a cutesy-poo pop track to Eurovision. Instead, Liar is a song mature beyond her years.
The track isn’t groundbreaking in any way. It’s a formulaic composition and predictable from verse to chorus, verse to chorus and bridge to chorus. The familiarity, however, is comfortable.
Greek producer Dimitris Kontopoulos’ fingerprints are plain to see. His recent Eurovision contributions include Sugar by Natalia Gordienko and Last Dance by Stefania, and Liar features the same expensive, heavy production as those tracks.
Cyprus has a known rhythm at Eurovision. Its last seven entries have been high value pop songs, and Liar is next in line.
