Poland: Luna – The Tower Review

Songs written specifically with the aim of conquering Eurovision often fall into this trap or that trap, but Luna has avoided stereotypes and stands on her own two feet.

With a title like The Tower, all sorts of different images are conjured up. Is the song dark? Is it evil? Is Luna atop the tower, laughing menacingly down on her kingdom? No. The Tower is a song of hope over hate, and a celebration of victory over vitriol.

Luna has a dainty little voice, and she is able to generate more appreciation for the message of empowerment in the song. She matches beautifully with the soft electronic nature of the track.

There’s a whiff of Aurora about Luna. Luna isn’t a copycat, of course, but she nods lightly to their shared style. It’s like having Aurora at Eurovision without having Aurora at Eurovision.

The Tower is a contemporary pop song, and a bloody good gear change for a country typically behind the curve at Eurovision.
