It is something out of the ordinary that a woman is representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, but the novelty of Angelina Mango’s achievement should not allow us to lose sight of the stellar music she is presenting.
La Noia (English: Boredom) is a dream of a song. Mango and fellow songwriter Madame use their useful wit to scribe lyrics that tell of the joy in the mundane between the highs and lows of life. Star songwriter and producer Dardust uses the magic of his touch to give the song a more international feel, allowing it to appeal to the widest market.
The track is not absent of curiosity in the opening bars, but it opens up quickly to display its worth, with flecks of guitar, fuzzy synths and metal drums adding to the sonic delight.
The trio’s bright and bouncy composition is an antidote to boredom itself. It allows emotions of vibrancy to ascend and leaves nothing and nobody in a rut.
