Five years too late, Electric Fields will stand on the Eurovision stage.
One Milkali (One Blood) kicks off with an arresting vocal from Zaachariaha Fielding. His voice is intriguing and captivating. It continues to be even more alluring as the seconds tick on.
Michael Ross adds a vocal here and there, but his magic is in the music. There are delightful flecks of aboriginal instrumentation and Yankunytjatjara lyrics that coexist with the 90s-style funk. It’s a seamless fusion of cultures and genres.
If there’s any criticism it has to be that One Milkali (One Blood) isn’t nearly as turbocharged as it should be. The song has a great base, but it could be strengthened with an elevated hook.
This isn’t the best work of Electric Fields, but it is true to their cosmic, blazing style.
