Belgium: Mustii – Before The Party’s Over Review

It’s game on. Mustii means business.

I’d be lying if I said I had even the merest expectation of what I’d hear when Mustii released Before The Party’s Over. It’s been nearly six months since he was announced as Belgium’s representative, and the payoff was worth it.

This is dark, soulful pop at its majestic best. Mustii’s voice zips up and down its working range with the same simplicity as breathing. He offers some angelic tones to stop the track falling too deep into the darkest reaches.

The choruses are explosive and reverberate through the core of anything living. The inclusion of a public choir in the bridge is impeccable, and the final blast of brass in the final moments elevates the song one more level.

This is what Belgium is known for. This is what Belgium does best.
